Why
In a conflicting situation something has to change if a solution is to be found. A part of that change that will be regarded as an improvement by both the conflicting parties can come from a betterment of the economic situation. Appropriate Technology and as such the Demotech design initiatives can contribute to this.

How
Conflicts are caused by an unbalance in power that grows between the parties involved. To re-create an acceptable balance it can be appropriate to create new facilities and sources for income for the most marginalized party. Appropriate Technology in general and more specific Home Work can contribute to this.
