Wood in houses

Wood is used in veranda pillars, roof support beams and doors. They form a welcome meal for (I think) wood worm. It helps to paint the wood, but not much.

Another example is this door that is almost completely consumed.

The biggest worry stays the roof beams. Generally the beams have been eaten before the roof plates are corroded. Steel roof beams are used as well, but expensive.
