A lot of women work in the house. Beside cooking and taking care for the children many weave. It's not well to see in this picture, but the women on the left is weaving. More than once women work together and chat.

Although making cloths is more the profession of (male) tailors, some women have a sewing machine. The majority of these machines are based on an age old design and foot propelled. This also counts for the tailors. This type is market leader and sometimes gives one the feeling to be in a museum.

Many houses have a 'tienda', small shops that are basically always opened to supply in daily needs. They always have a rather astonishing amount of candy which might indicate again that children are taken care for.
